Most Intriguing Game: Kansas State (Week 6)

I’m extremely high on this Baylor team heading into the 2025 season. The Bears rattled off six straight victories to end the 2024 regular season after a 2-4 start, and returning quarterback Sawyer Robertson and the Baylor offense were balling by the end of the year.

Robertson could end up being the best quarterback in the conference this year, and the Bears have seven returning starters from that offense to surround him with. With four starters back from an offensive line that improved leaps and bounds throughout the season a year ago, the Bears foundation up front should also be one of the best in the conference, and returning playmakers in running back Bryson Washington and wide receiver Josh Cameron should be the finishing touches on an offense that could carry a team to a Big 12 championship.

But the defense could be the difference in the team being good and great this year. The Bears bring back five starters on that side of the ball from a year ago from a unit that finished in the bottom half of the league. But head coach Dave Aranda added good pieces at every level to try and help that cause.

Aranda has yet to put together successful seasons in back-to-back years so far in his Baylor tenure, but the Bears have all the talent and returning production to be able to be in Big 12 title contention this fall, so if he fails to do so this year while already being on a somewhat hot seat, chances are he won’t be the coach of the Bears a year from now.
